S’44 indicates the year the seat was produced.

It was produced in 1969 ( Showa 44 ), so it is commonly known as the "S’44 seat" in Japan. The sponge used for the seat is red sponge. *¹ As the name suggests, the sponge color is red. It is characterized by its softness. The seat's piping at the time was sewing machine sewing.

What is "S'45 seat" ?

As well as S'44 seat, it was produced in 1970 ( Showa 45 ), so it is commonly known as the "S’45 seat" in Japan. The sponge used for the seat is mix of red sponge and urethan sponge. Red sponge is used in the sitting area. The matching of the outer skin and piping has been changed to welded moulding. Compared to the S'44 seat, the form looks a little more angular.

※2 Example of aging

Point①

The outer skin is used "creased leather" the same as that time. The leather changes not only in appearance but also in texture as you use it. You can also enjoy leather aging. ※2 Made in Japan. Sewing machine sewing and, all hand made by craftsman.

Point②

The seat used integral molding urethan sponge. The seat surface is produced using a high-frequency ‘welding’ process to achieve the same detailing as the red sponge. The spacing between the seat's peaks and the plushness of the seat are also very particular.
